Top Instagram Posts of 2019
2019 was quite the year as I continued my journey to fill my home with vintage pieces to love and cherish for years to come - and to share with all of you now that the online store has launched! Crazy to think that is when my decor sense finally clicked and I started to make my home the cozy vintage cottage that it is today. Let’s take a look at my top three posts from 2019.
I am honestly surprised this is the only haul photo that made it in the top 3 of the year - they were in spots 5 and 6 of my top 9 from the year. Haha, so not too far off! If I had to talk about my style it would basically be this lil mound of stuff right here. Dark tones, chippy, deconstructed goodness. This is definitely my favorite haul and I remember this day like it was yesterday. This was the first time that I ventured to one of my favorite spots to antique just for the sheer amount of stores within a couple mile radius of each other down in Quincy/Coldwater, Michigan. I see so many pieces that I love still to this day including the trunk which was the best find of the day for $10.
You guys know how much I love this space with how often I share it. I'm glad to see you appreciate it as much as I do! This was one of my favorite spaces to style at the beginning of the year after (of course) a great vintage picking adventure. The star of the show for me is that glorious old piece of desk that I hung as a wall cabinet. Its scrumptious dark wood and cubbies is perfect for a desk setting and of course - such a fun styling piece. I got if for $25. Can you believe? I can't even. The goal I had in place when creating this space is that I wanted it read masculine and I think I accomplished that goal. I stuck with darker, moodier colors and didn't overwhelm the space with too much white. The desk breaks up the darker colors in just the right way to make the space feel balanced.
I have a lot of favorite finds from last year (if that wasn't obvious after number 1 in this post) but this cabinet is probably my best find. If you can believe this beautiful chippy white cabinet was a Facebook marketplace find for $20. I did not forget a zero there - twenty bucks. The gentleman I purchased it from had it for many years and had inherited it from his father. He was getting rid of it as him and his wife were downsizing and they no longer had space for it. His kids didn't want it so boom - it is now mine to love forever. Hopefully my future children grow to love some of this stuff cause they are going to inherit a lot of it. The antique bird botanical calendar print and the vignette on top of the cabinet just makes it that much better - filled and layered with some of my favorite things. I will sharing vignette styling tips and tricks in an upcoming post.
And that's it! Looking forward to seeing what rises to the top for 2020. Hopefully we can get back out in the real world soon and get some antiquing and thrifting in our lives.
